Itinerary

Thursday, May 31: Departure from USA. Check your own ticket for time. Plan to arrive at the airport 2 hours before departure (airline requirement for international travel.)

Friday, June 1: Arrival in Prague (3:40 p.m.) After clearing customs and picking up your luggage, exit area E. You will see minivans marked Airport-Centrum. It will cost 90 Kc@ and will take you into town and drop you at Namisty Republiky. Walk back toward gray building (Ceska Narodin Banka), and you should have the metro stop on left and an art deco building on right. At intersection, turn left on Hybernska. You will see the Meteor Plaza Hotel half way down the block. (011420) 2419 2554. Shower, nap and wait for the rest of us to arrive from Istanbul. Our flight arrives at 5:15; we should be at the hotel by 6:30. Dinner at nearby Domaci Pivnice V Celnici.

Saturday, June 2: 9:00 a.m. departure for 1/2 day city tour by foot, metro and tram, lunch at Prvni Novomestsky, a brew pub. Afternoon and evening free so you can make your own concert arrangements.

Sunday, June 3: 9:00 a.m. departure for 1/2 day city tour by foot, metro and tram, lunch at U Vladare. Afternoon free. 7:00 p.m. performance of La Traviata at the state opera house.

Monday, June 4: Day free in Prague. Dinner plans t.b.a.

Tuesday, June 5: 8:30 a.m. departure for Krakow by private coach. Arrive Krakow at 4:30 and check into Hotel Dom Turysty, soon to be renamed to Hotel Wyspianski (01148124229566). 7:00 p.m. dinner at Pod Gruszka.

Wednesday, June 6: Depart at 8:30 for Auschwitz. Return to Krakow. 5:00 p.m. depart hotel for tour of Jewish Quarter ending with dinner at Ariel Restaurant. (I recommend renting Schindler’s List to prepare for this day.)

Thursday, June 7: 9:00 a.m. city tour including Cathedral, Royal Tombs, Sigismond’s Bell and St. Mary’s church. After a break for lunch in the main market square, we will depart the hotel at 3:00 for Wieliczka Salt Mines. Return to Krakow about 7:00. Dinner at Bohema Restaurant at 7:30.

Friday, June 8: 9:00 a.m. departure for Warsaw.  Arrive Warsaw at 2:30–3:00. Check into the Hotel Orbis Europejski, (+48) 826 50 51. Meet in lobby at 4:00. I will lead you on an orientation walk to Old Town Square to show you where all of our meals will be. Free time in Old Town Square until we meet for dinner at Restauracja Pod Herbami at 7:00.

Saturday, June 9: I’m leaving the morning free as a number of the shops are closed on Saturday afternoon. 2:00 p.m. city tour with coach until 5:00. Meet at 7:00 p.m. for dinner at Restauraca Pod Samsonem.

Sunday, June 10: 9:30 departure for excursion to Zelazowa Wola (Chopin’s birthplace) to visit small museum and attend concert. Return to Warsaw in early evening. Dinner at Basylisch Restaurant.

Monday, June 11: Depart for Berlin at 8:30.Arrive Berlin approximately at 6:30 and check in to the Upstalsboom Hotel Friedrichshain. (0114930) 293750 Dinner at Hotel Restaurant.

Tuesday, June 12: City tour by foot, tram, and S-Bahn (pass provided) in morning. Afternoon free. Dinner TBA.

Wednesday, June 13: Free day to use your transportation pass to go to various museums of your choice. Buffet dinner at hotel.

Thursday, June 14: Morning transfers by Gray Cab in time for our various return flights
